Aloha Readers !

Hope you all are safe and well in this pandemic.

Thought of the Day-
" "Forget" what hurt you, but never forget what it taught "you" !"

So, with a feeling of well-being I start with the introduction of "MENTAL HEALTH" !

As I stated in my previous post that from now on, I will be focusing mainly on the 3rd most important aspect of health, that is "Mental health". Since it is the prime topic of the moment.

Nowadays, mental health of many individuals is deteriorating due to stress, overthinking, anxiety and depression, which is leading to decline in overall health status.
It's a matter of concern and should not be neglected. One should not be ashamed and embarrassed to open up and speak about their mental health.
Just like physical and social well-being, calm and healthy mental state is crucial.
If an individual's mental and psychological behaviour is well then only he/she can focus on other subjects and tasks in life. So, by keeping the significance of this matter in mind, I commence the topic of mental health.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) ,MENTAL HEALTH is defined as "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his/her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his/her community".

Mental health includes our emotional and psychological well-being.
It affects how we think, feel, and act.
It also helps in determining the ways by which we handle stress and make choices in life. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from the very childhood to adolescence and throughout adulthood.

Emotional and mental health is important because it's an important part of our life and impacts our thoughts, behaviours and emotions. It plays an important part in our overall development be it personal or social and allows us to adapt to various changes in our lives and cope with adversities.

The reasons(etiology) for imbalance of mental health can be -

  1. Severe stress.
  2. Social and domestic violence / abuse.
  3. Hormonal imbalance.
  4. Poverty.
  5. Negligence.
  6. Discrimination.
  7. Inferiority complexes.
  8. Physical illness.
  9. Genes or family history of mental illness.
  10. Trauma.
  11. Bereavement.
  12. Unemployment or loss of job.
  13. Drugs and alcohol abuses.
  14. Loneliness.
  15. Sexual abuse.
  16. Failures in school, college or work at place.

And many more.

Mental health is a matter of concern since it affects the mind and psychological well-being of a person.
Still being in the 21st century, we are not very open about the topic.
We have to accept and speak about it since imbalance of mental health is not an illness.
It doesn't mean that you are insane.

Humans are loaded with emotions.
Happiness, sadness, anger, grief, stress, joy etc are all parts of life. And, people consider it as a normal human behaviour / nature.
Although, I totally agree with it because that is what makes us human, our emotions and our behaviour.
But, when such emotions and behaviour start obstructing our daily schedules and wellness then it's not a matter of negligence.
I request my readers if anything bothers you in a way that it is creating hinderance in your day-to-day routine or life. You should surely seek for help from professionals and speak about it.

I also request my readers that they should not neglect behaviour or attitude related to improper mental health in their surroundings or among friends and family.

One should practice mindfulness daily.
"Self-love and self-care is not a selfish act".
It's a selfless act where you are trying to help yourself in a way that you turn out to be productive in your life and for your community.

In my upcoming blogs, I'll be talking about mental health in more detail and also about the situations or circumstances that can lead to deterioration of mental health.
I will also try my level best to deliver you satisfactory advice for the same.

With this I close my words for now and hope that it will bring a pure and organic change in your life.

Never be too harsh on yourself, because your nervous system knows how to heal after every situation that disturbs you. Relax and loosen up.
Give yourself some time.
